Such a lovely Spanish school in a great location. All the teachers, especially Chely, are very friendly and whilst you learn lots it doesn’t feel exhausting. The home stays are equally welcoming and really make you feel like part of the family

What an incredible four weeks! We were meant to stay here for three weeks but ended up extending. The teachers here are all such lovely people and really make you feel at ease. My teacher Manuel was kind, patient and very funny- who knew that language learning could be so hilarious! The school feels like a little family, and it’s clear to see that everyone enjoys working/learning there. Activities are planned in the week- coffee tours, chocolate/textiles, cooking, football etc etc, all of which were great fun and a good way to meet and connect with the other students. The school provides all materials for studying, snacks everyday and tasty coffee. I really enjoyed my time here, and feel like it will not be the last time I visit.

Lesson/Spanish-wise, I learnt so much. I came to the school with basic Spanish and had no clue of grammar etc. I now have a solid understanding of many of the ‘grammar rules’ and feel far more confident with my conversational Spanish. Manuel made sure the lessons were a mixture of conversation, grammar and fun. And was very patient with my constant questioning of things! The lessons were done in a way that worked for my learning style. Gracias Manuel.

We stayed with a local family during our stay, and I recommend doing this if you are unsure. ‘Casa Susan’ was fantastic. The family were warm and welcoming and helped us with many unforeseen circumstances! Food was 10/10- breakfast lunch and dinner! It was very sad to leave after 4 weeks of living with them, but I am grateful to have met them and shared many laughs and wonderful meals. Our room was clean and comfortable and we had a separate bathroom there too. If you have the option to ask where to stay- stay here!!

Gracias a todos los maestros de la escuela. Todos ustedes superestrellas!! Hasta pronto.

💚

Small school with a chill and friendly atmosphere that brings this "home away from home" feeling. My teacher Chely was super nice, I improved a lot in just a week of lessons and learned a lot about Guatemala. I recommend staying in one of their host family. Ana Lidia was a very good cook, thanks to her I discovered a lot of typical food and had the opportunity to practice my spanish in a non-judgmental environment which helped me a lot.
The school organizes 2 afternoon activities each week, wich helps bonding with the other students. The location is great in a green sitting with a nice view over the lake.
Last but not least, they are very flexible about your date of check in and check out. Gracias por todo ✨️

Semilla Spanish School was an incredible place to learn Spanish. Robinson and rest of the teachers are fun, patient and knowledgeable who made lessons engaging and overall experience wonderful. The personalised approach helped me improve quickly. The atmosphere stunning and welcoming.

Staying with Anna Lydia was equally amazing, her hospitality made me feel at home from day one. The home was comfortable, the food was delicious, and she always made sure I had everything I needed. Conversations with her helped me practice my Spanish in a natural way. I highly recommend both the school and the homestay for an authentic and enriching experience!

Absolutely recommend Semilla Spanish School! All the teachers are so nice and fun. It is a small school which makes it feel like a family and everyone is super approachable.
On my way to San Pedro when there were no boats going anymore, Juan Carlos was very helpful and made sure I made it to the homestay smoothly.
Chely, my teacher, was super nice and patient. Four hours a day flew by and we could talk about anything, like I was talking to a friend whilst learning a lot of new Spanish at the same time! Before starting the classes I told them what my learning goals were, and we went over it all.

Additionally to the classes there are fun and cultural activities and they can help you (or join you) organize hikes in the surrounding area. They also run a very good project in teaching children from the neighborhood English and French and I had the chance to help during some classes and join the kids during an interesting museum visit.

I stayed in Casa Suzana which was also really nice! The family was very sweet and welcoming and made sure we enjoyed our stay. Suzana is also a great cook!

If I would have had more time in Guatemala I definitely would have extended my stay with Semilla, it was sad to leave!

Thank you all for making the experience so good!

I highly recommend this school! The teachers are enthusiastic, and the location in the city center, close to the lake, is perfect. The view from the classrooms is beautiful. The lessons are of good quality, with a strong focus on speaking Spanish, which helps you improve, no matter your starting level. Grammar is also clearly explained through exercises and assignments.

The small scale of the school creates a warm, family-like atmosphere. The school gives you a taste of the local culture, with things like local snacks during breaks and activities such as a coffee tour where we used coffee beans from the school’s garden. Other activities, like an football game with the teachers, made it even more enjoyable.

Staying with a host family is a thing a highly recommend. For a reasonable price, I received three meals a day and the chance to practice Spanish constantly with a very kind family.

The school has good prices and you get a lot for a good price. An unforgettable experience!

We just finished a great week at Semilla. It's like a little family. The teachers were really patient and knowledgeable. Shout out to JC and Chely who gave us excellent 1 on 1 tuition! We spent time with the other teachers during after school activities too who made the whole experience really fun and memorable. Thank you to everyone at Semilla!

Cannot recommend Semilla Spanish School enough! I had such a wonderful two months in San Pedro learning Spanish each day and staying with a host family. The classrooms are outside with beautiful views, everyone at the school is genuinely so kind, and my host family made me feel so welcomed each day. They even celebrated my birthday with a delicious lunch and dessert! My teacher was Sara and had such a nice time with her. Having one on one classes really made a difference and my Spanish improved so much. They also have fun activities outside of the classrooms. I loved playing soccer with the teachers and going to a baking class and a honey tour. Can’t wait to go back!
